Criteria

These are the factors that will affect the overall decision. Criteria are linked together to create a hierarchical value tree.

Overall Criterion

This criterion is required in every model. The Overall Criterion is the single point in a Value Tree where all the Scores from all the criteria are combined. It is where the overall weighted scores are found for the Alternatives.

The Overall Criterion has a yellow boarder to distingush it from others (except when it has a blue boarder to show it is selected).

Sub-Criteria

These are any criteria that are a subset of another criterion and linked accordingly in the value tree. For example, criterion “Cost” might have sub-criteria “Capital Cost”, “Fuel Cost” and “Maintenance Cost”.

Parent Criteria

These are any criteria that have sub-criteria. It is possible to be both a parent criterion and a sub-criterion.
